Welcome Home Ernestina! - May 6, 7 and 9, 2009

Schooner Ernestina returns from Boothbay, Maine, to her home port in New Bedford on May 9, with stops in Gloucester on May 6 and Boston on May 7.

Come see the extensive work done to the forward half of the ship. Celebrate her return and contribute to her rebirth with musical and other fundraising events. Paul Brawley, Executive Director of Schooner Ernestina, and Harold Burnham, master shipwright who supervised the work on behalf of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation will be on hand at each port to talk about the work and the future.

There will be escort boat fundraisers in Gloucester and New Bedford. In all three ports, we will have a fundraising concert by favorite maritime musicians along with Candida Rose in Boston and New Bedford to add a musical taste of Ernestina's Cape Verdean heritage. The Gloucester House Restaurant will host a cash bar fundraiser with donating space and food. Thanks to all who are donating time and resources to these events. While Ernestina's arrival is subject to weather and safety considerations, the musical and Gloucester House Restaurant events will happen as scheduled.

The folks at Boothbay Harbor Shipyard have put up on YouTube a very nice short video on the replanking and relaunch of Ernestina. You can see it at Ernestina Launch on YouTube.

I have attached a pdf file with the summary and details for each port.

You can view the summary and download individual pdf files for each port at Welcome Home Ernestina!

Please, join us. Help get the word out to others. Download the pdf file and print the pages you need as flyers. Attached the file to your emails to friends and contacts who may want to come. If you want to paste the contents for a particular port into an email, you will need a Word document. Pdf file content does not paste well. Please, contact me.
